Look- no kids!

The day after the 4th of July, Scott and I left the boys in the loving care of Fely and headed out to Seattle for Scott's Mother's wedding. It was one of those quick trips where it would have been very difficult to have the kids along (short trip, flight time, layovers, time change, no children invited to wedding etc..) but it was also very hard leaving them behind! Every time we passed through security, sat on the plane, rode on the ferry boat to Lopez, watched a mariners game, or saw a great big waterfall, ...we couldn't help thinking how much fun the kids would have if they were with us!!! (We even found ourselves peering at the childrens menu at restaurants just out of habit and hearing noises at night and waking just to listen, thinking it was one of our kids!) But, despite not having them along, we still managed to enjoy the quality time with one another and with extended family. It isn't that often anymore that we can sit down for dinner at a restaurant and actually eat it while it's still hot, read an entire book on a plane ride, or stay up late playing card games! The wedding was beautiful, held up at the Salish Lodge which is set on top of a waterfall. It was such a special time for Stephannie and we were so happy to share in it. We also enjoyed a beautiful visit up to Lopez Island to visit with Larry and Rusty, Burke and Mackenzie. And since Scott did most of the planning for the trip, the grand finale was a Mariners baseball game Saturday night! Let's just say, I was never even near Nordstrom during business hours the entire trip! Scott definitely planned strategically!

Happy 4th of July!

For the 4th of July we joined our neighborhood parade! We decorated our bikes and were escorted around the neighborhood by a fire truck! The kids were so excited to see the fire truck! (They were a little confused that it was white... after the inital shock they got over it!). Nate pedalled furiously to keep up with the truck and was exhausted by the end! Grant loved waving his flag at everyone he passed!

All Aboard!

'Day out with Thomas' has become a yearly tradition at the Snow household. I guess that is what happens when you've got two boys who love transportation. (And it also makes for a great bribe for potty training!).We took the kids to ride Thomas the Train at a nearby train amusement park called 'Tweetsie Railroad'. Nate and Grant both loved riding the train! Surprisingly, Nate was the one who got a little scared when the whistle blew and Grant was clapping and cheering! Who would have thought? The rest of the day was alot of fun- we rode some other little trains, racecars, boats and airplanes. The kids had a great time.

Grant's happy place!

We spent a great week in Hilton Head with a few friends from business school. Grant is generally a pretty fussy child...but not at the beach! Grant officially found his happy place! He spent hours digging in the sand, playing in puddles and occasionally splashing in the waves. But in true Grant style...he always cried when it was time to go!

Animals vs. Analysts

A few days ago Nate was sitting at the dinner table and Scott had just arrived home from work. Scott mentioned that he really needed some new 'analysts' to start work at their firm. Nate looked up quickly and responded... 'Hey- we've got some 'animals' right in the pantry dad... we bought some animal crackers at the store today'!! Already such a bright thinker!

Cowboy Celebration!

Happy Birthday to Nate! He officially turned 3 on May 15th and had a cowboy celebration with horseback riding, a cowboy picnic and of course cowboy cupcakes! He had never been on a horse before and we were pretty worried how he would react- especially since his entire birthday party hinged on the horse theme! The day of the party he went a little early to the barn with his Dad and watched the horses get ready. He started asking his Dad if he could ride the horse, and Scott told him 'not yet son- you'll have to wait your turn'. Well you now how patient a 3 year old can be.....eventually Nate wanted to ride those horses so badly that he was the first one on once the horses got in the ring! Yee-Haw!

3 Years Old!

Here we are at Nate's 3rd Birthday Party! Scott wouldn't wear a cowboy hat so we settled on a John Deere hat- that's authentic right? Grant was a little traumatized by the horses and wouldn't go near them!
